If your teeth have sustained damage, our dentists may recommend restoring them with a dental inlay or onlay. Inlays and onlays are custom-made to fit your teeth perfectly, restoring the tooth to full health and function and preserving as much of your natural tooth structure as possible to encourage better long-term oral health. To schedule a consultation with Dr. Fatima Siraj and Dr. Mir Q. Nasiri and learn more about dental inlays and onlays in Duncanville, Texas, call Minty Smiles at 469-759-6964.
Dental inlays and onlays are typically recommended when a tooth requires more attention than a dental filling but does not need a full dental crown. They are often referred to as “partial crowns” and are custom-made using porcelain, composite resin material or gold. Once your inlay or onlay is placed in your mouth, it will be nearly undetectable and will restore the appearance, shape and function of the tooth.
The difference between inlays and onlays is very small. Inlays are used when the damage to your tooth does not reach the cusps, or pointed ends, of the chewing surface of the tooth. Onlays are recommended when the damage extends to one or more of the tooth’s cusps. Our dentists will examine your teeth closely to determine whether an inlay or onlay is the right choice for you.
